It's time to mark your calendars again; our annual Christmas open house is right around the corner! Tuesday November 4th we will be unveiling all of our new Christmas displays from 10am to 8pm. Come stop by for some refreshments, snacks, giveaways and this years newest Christmas trends! Don't forget, we will be closed Sunday November 2nd and Monday November 3rd so all of our elves can prepare the store for what's sure to be another amazing Christmas season!
I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving this past weekend! I'm still recovering from all the eating I did. My Grandma prepared an amazing meal for my family on Saturday and we all had a blast eating, drinking, and giggling at the newest little member of our family, Kyle, who just learned how to crawl!
Sometimes after Thanksgiving I feel a bit down knowing that winter is right around the corner, but this year I refuse to think the fall is over after Thanksgiving! The leaves are in full turn and it's starting to get cooler and crisper out; the perfect setting for fall walks, or cozy evenings inside with a book and a warm fire, and for us in the heart of Niagara wine country, probably a large glass of wine! My absolute favourite thing about the fall is breaking out all my snuggly sweaters and scarves, and although I have a closet full of them, I'm struggling this year with not buying anymore chunky knitted infinity scarves! Last year we could not keep these in stock, so this year we bulked up with tons of new styles and colours. All our scarves retail $18.00 each or 2 for $30.00. HINT: They make amazing Christmas presents, so start stocking up early!!
Although we have had our website up and running for a while now, we have never actually taken the time to fully use our blog feature to let all of our amazing customers what really goes on day to day at Cocoon!
My name is Kelsey Hawke, a new presence to this blog, but not a new presence at Cocoon! If any of you have had the pleasure of visiting the store, I'm sure we have bumped into each other! I started here just over three years ago when my Grandma, Stephanie Hawke, came to me with a part time position working at her store during the summer. I had such an amazing summer working in Grimsby; meeting incredible people, putting together fun displays, and working everyday bonding with my Grandma. Lucky for me, this part time position slowly turned into a career working alongside my Grandma.
One of the best parts of my new found passion is being able to help pick out exciting, original products to bring into the store. My favourite product right now that we have just recently started carrying is a line of Canadian made art pieces by a company called Cedar Mountain Studios. Cedar Mountain (http://www.cedarmountainstudios.com/) is a Canadian company out of Salt Springs, British Columbia specializing in slatted cedar signs, art blocks, word art signs, and recently, a new line of wooden postcards. You can send these postcards in the mail as intended, but they are so beautiful I wanted some for myself! I've used them in a number of different photo collages, framed them, used them as greeting cards, and plastered my ugly old fridge with them! They retail at Cocoon for $5.00 each and Cedar Mountain is constantly coming out with new cute designs!
Since we brought these postcards in they have been flying out the door! How have you been using your Cedar Mountain postcards?
